The U.S. Senate voted 66-32-2 on Jan. 23 to confirm Mike Pompeo as the next director of the Central Intelligence Agency.
Media have portrayed President Donald Trump as having an adversarial relationship with the CIA. But his issues have been with the leadership of the CIA and not the organization as a whole. Trump spoke at CIA headquarters on Jan. 21 and received an enthusiastic welcome from its rank-and-file officers. These rank-and-file officers likely will welcome Pompeo but he may receive a different reception from the career leaders of the organization.
