Trump Calls for Intel Leak Investigations Just as SCI Recommended

Donald Trump announced on Jan. 6 that he had asked the House and Senate to investigate government officials leaking classified material to the press. SCI said that the government should investigate such leaks in a Dec. 16, 2016 analysis of Russian cyberattacks during the 2016 presidential election.

“I am asking the chairs of the House and Senate committees to investigate top secret intelligence shared with NBC prior to me seeing it,” Trump tweeted on Jan. 6.

His tweet essentially said the same thing SCI said in, “Did Obama Work with Putin to Discredit Trump’s Election?”

On top of this, focus should be on the Washington Post, which apparently worked with insider threats at the highest levels of government. If the Washington Post did indeed receive classified intelligence from government officials, American leaders should be demanding a massive counterintelligence investigation into the top levels of our government.

Now it’s up to the leaders of the House and Senate to decide if they want to do the right thing.
