|Still of video showing U.S. airstrike on ISIS chemical facility.|
U.S. (or coalition) forces participating in Operation Inherent Resolve conducted an airstrike on Sep. 26 on an Islamic Caliphate (ISIS) facility involved with producing chemical weapons and vehicle borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED). The facility was located near Al Qaim, Iraq. Saddam Hussein, the president of Iraq at the time the U.S. went to war with the Middle Eastern nation in 2003, previously used facilities in or near Al Qaim to produce weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
An official account from the CIA states that Hussein had not produced any WMD at those facilities after 1991 (search for both “Al Qaim” and “Al Qa’im”), although U.S. forces recovered radioactive material from such sites after the 2003 invasion.
Watch the below video for footage of the airstrike.
