U.S. DOD Now Spreading ‘Diversity’ in Zambia

Army cavalry troops will be spreading diversity as part of their mission when they deploy to Zambia later this year according to an official statement from the Army.

The 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division Public Affairs released a press release on Feb. 3 announcing that troops from the 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment (6-8 Cav.) will deploy to Zambia to assist the African Contingency Operations Training and Assistance Force in training Zambian military forces.

According to the press release, in addition to tactically training the Zambians, part of the 6-8 Cav. mission will include spreading so-called diversity to the Zambians.

Zambat 2 will also get a closer look at the U.S. Army’s comparative diversity.
“Some of our female Soldiers will be going over there and it will show the Zambian forces that women have a lot to offer,” Mendham said. “It will also show that females and males can work together to accomplish the mission, which will be value added to employ female soldiers when they get to central Africa.”
