Public affairs of the 2nd BCT, 3rd ID announced on Feb. 10 that, “Three companies from 3-15 Inf. going [sic] are slated to go forward, along with one company from 703rd Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd IBCT.”
The mission of 3-15 Inf. is to support the Joint Multinational Training Group Ukraine in training Soldiers with the Ukrainian Army on defensive combat skills and civil-military operations in conjunction with fundamentals on individual and collective firing and the skills needed to perform during a wartime mission.
Media attention on the ongoing Russian war in Ukraine has died down but the public affairs announcement is a reminder that the Ukrainians are still struggling to regain control of their nation.
A video package released by the U.S. Army on Feb. 12 provides additional detail on what training the U.S. and Ukraine are doing under Fearless Guardian. Note the part in the video where the U.S. soldier says he is learning from the Ukrainians as well. This is significant because it is a reminder that the U.S. is likely gaining valuable intelligence from the Ukrainians on what the Russians are doing in Ukraine and how they are fighting.
The U.S. soldiers in the video are part of the 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment.
